Field Work

This is a collection of work in fabric and thread by Helen Heron in which she has used Seamus Heaney’s compilation ‘Field Work’ (1979) as the grounding source of inspiration for the show, interpreting the themes behind each poem through her own medium and personal experience, thus extending the dialogue around the political, pastoral and cultural themes that Heaney himself has examined. Helen uses the 27 poems as a framework in which to explore the nature of the Troubles, reflecting upon how the circumstances of the era effected the development of local identity and social interaction.
